The challenge coins were given to a group of Marines by their CO. During WII a US Marine was captured by the French. He didn't have any Identification on him so they thought he was a German spy and he was going to be excuted. Having the coin saved his life. You should look it up. I bet it would mean a lot to him.

I'm retired US Air Force and an Honorary Marine. I'll tell you what would warm my heart. Make a contribution to any fund you like that helps the widows or the children of fallen Marines. There are several. A small card with than information would be the best gift I could imagine.
